Maison des Hotes at La Riviere's exterior remains close to the original state when functioning as the Schuchard Family's carriage house. Even though the carriage doors were replaced with large glass windows, the memory of the carriage doors remains just to the left of the entrance door. Entrance from Guenther Street is through a side gate to the Main House and a short walk past the main house side yard. A keyed gate maintains the back yard and garden separate from the more public space of La Riviere.
